Winter
Warmer

Here is a guide for the weekend to answer any questions and prepare you for your stay.

Getting there

Our meeting point is Church Point Ferry Wharf, at the southern end of the body of water known as Pittwater. The easiest way to reach Church Point Ferry Wharf is by car, however buses are also available. We encourage carpooling - please reach out in the WhatsApp group.

There’s no free parking at Church Point, so we recommend you drop your bags (and passengers if car sharing) at Church Point Ferry Wharf and then drive back along Pittwater Road to park on Bakers Road or Riddle Reserve (an approx. 10-15

min walk from the wharf) - this area offers free unlimited street parking. Read more guide

At Churches Point there are a few rustic cafes as well as the beautiful Pasadena restaurant if you’re keen to start the weekend with a leisurely lunch.

Ferry cost: $18 for return ticket (cards or cash accepted)

Accommodation and facilities

Pittwater Eco YHA is a beautiful location set up on a hill in Pittwater’s Morning Bay, accessible by boat only. Surrounded by the Kur-ring-gai Chase National Park and teaming with wildlife, they adopt a minimal waste eco friendly lifestyle. Bergia will be cooking up a nutritious storm, and Katie is our knowledgeable all things nature host.

There are a variety of modest rooms (including single bottom bunk beds, single beds and private double beds), most have a water view. We’ll allocate everyone a room, if you’re travelling alone you’ll be paired with a lovely roomie. It's all about your relaxation and comfort during this amazing retreat. We all look forward to sharing the magic of Pittwater with you all!

What to bring

Here's a comprehensive list of what to bring. It’s a 15 min walk from the ferry to our accommodation - so recommend a backpack or bag you can carry comfortably.

  • Walking shoes - Closed-toe shoes with good grip for trails and the 15-minute uphill walk to our accom on the fire trail. No high heels this weekend.

  • Active wear for hiking, kayaking and yoga.

    • Hiking clothes - tights or longs, t-shirts, and a light jumper are recommended.
For our time in the grounds, we suggest wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants, with socks tucked in to protect against ticks and leeches during hikes.

  • Warm socks or UGG boots - Keep your feet cosy during the evenings.

  • Thongs/flip flops/sandals (great for go between to shared bathrooms)

  • Wet weather gear - A waterproof outer shell jacket or raincoat to stay dry during rainy spells. A spare a pair of active wear for Sunday in case it rains.

  • Warm jumper & jacket - Bring layers for chilly evenings and cooler days.

  • Warm hat - Keep your head warm and comfortable, especially for gatherings around the campfire.

  • Pyjamas/Comfortable sleepwear for a good night's rest.

  • Sun hat/cap - Protect yourself from the sun during outdoor activities.

  • Swimmers/cossie/togs - Don't forget your swimsuit for any water-based activities or relaxation by the water

  • Any personal toiletries/medications etc - they will be sunscreen, hand and shower soap available

  • Small beach towel (shower towel provided)

Optional items

  • Book/kindle

  • Camera (especially if keen to limit phone use)

  • Head torch

  • Snacks (some will be provided but if anything you can’t live without please bring. There are no shops or cafes close by)
